Broadcast Meteorologist
I believe weather goes beyond the forecast; it's about how the daily patterns impact you. That's why I believe school visits and community events are necessary to get to know the viewers and let them know I'm approachable and one of their neighbors. I connect with those passionate or curious about weather by managing our own group of weather spotters and answering questions, on top of my on-air responsibilities.
I created the first and only weather spotter group for a TV station in East Tennessee, WVLT Weather Vols on Facebook. I have had a weekly segment in the past called "Ask Heather", where I answered weather questions to help my viewers have a better understanding of weather in general.
I was born and raised in Tennessee, and I love the outdoors. From kayaking to camping, I enjoy getting to know new places. Outdoor fun is a family affair. My husband and I have a son, born in July 2012, and our daughter arrived in August 2016.
Inside the home, I'm a real DIY'er. I love crafts, like sewing and home decor projects, but I'm also not afraid to get my hands dirty with power tools.
I expanded my do-it-yourself personality into a regular segment called "Pinspiration", where I tested crafts, projects, and recipes trending on Pinterest. This was another way for viewers to get to know me!
I won't shy away from exploring a new challenge, personally nor professionally.
